Meet ‘Egg’ Gomez
Egg is an event professional that works year round for Fahntoosh Enterprises. Egg is part of the Production and Management team on several high profile events including Lollapalooza, Innings Festival, and FORMAT. Staff catering provides a great way for crew to take a break and keep energized during shifts, but Egg also always makes a point to try out the local fare at the event’s food court. Tell us a bit about yourself. Are you a big eater of Egg’s?
Egg: Funny you say that, I am a huge advocate of starting your day with a nice base. Working these festivals is no joke, no matter where you are, no matter what time of year. So make sure you grab breakfast, and if you have access to staff catering look for an omelet bar before you hit the buffet
What qualifies you to be an event food connoisseur?
Nothing, I just have good taste. Kidding! I grew up in San Antonio which hosts a 16 day citywide party called FIESTA. It’s a foodie's dream serving cultural dishes from all over the world. I think I’ve tasted them all. :/
What are some food staples you think that every event should provide their guests?
Gourmet Hot Dogs. Period. As long as it’s local and creative you can’t go wrong.
Catering is often provided for working crew, whereas food court offerings are something you likely have to pay extra for, so why make the splurge?
Catering is hit or miss, you never know what you’re gonna get. So talk with your fellow staffers and on the day that doesn’t sound appetizing - make your move to the food court!
Do you have an all-time festival favorite food offering?
I recently had a Chipotle Ghost Pepper Sausage Dog with a Sweet ColeSlaw in Kansas City that was outstanding. So many memorable dishes though.
Any recommendations for staffers looking to progress in the event food consumption world?
Be observant of your surroundings. Food is all around us at these festivals so keep an open eye cause your next dream meal may just be a few steps from your belly.

TACOTLAN
Quesabirria Tacos w/ consomme!!!
These tacos were outstanding, and festival goers showed it by walking around with consomme juice on the side of their mouths and marking on their shirts. They had plenty of meat on the inside of this 3-Pack of wrapped goodness. The warm corn tortillas were crispy on the edges and soft towards the center, but still pliable enough so they didn’t bust open. The cheese was SO flavorful and melted perfectly to keep both sides of the tortilla pasted together. Topped with cilantro and fresh chopped onions. These tacos were authentic, and you would have never known that you were 2,200 miles away from Jalisco, MX
