Follow Egg’s journey to his belly below as he provides us with a list of his recommendations and favorites from the festival circuit! Egg ranks his selections from 1 good egg to 5 great eggs and at the end of each festival awards a prestigious ‘Eggy’ Award out to his favorite vendor.

Meet ‘Egg’ Gomez

Egg is an event professional that works year round for Fahntoosh Enterprises. Egg is part of the Production and Management team on several high profile events including Lollapalooza, Innings Festival, and FORMAT. Staff catering provides a great way for crew to take a break and keep energized during shifts, but Egg also always makes a point to try out the local fare at the event’s food court. — Egg

Tell us a bit about yourself. Are you a big eater of Egg’s?

Egg: Funny you say that, I am a huge advocate of starting your day with a nice base. Working these festivals is no joke, no matter where you are, no matter what time of year. So make sure you grab breakfast, and if you have access to staff catering look for an omelet bar before you hit the buffet

What qualifies you to be an event food connoisseur?

Nothing, I just have good taste. Kidding! I grew up in San Antonio which hosts a 16 day citywide party called FIESTA. It’s a foodie's dream serving cultural dishes from all over the world. I think I’ve tasted them all. :/

What are some food staples you think that every event should provide their guests?

Gourmet Hot Dogs. Period. As long as it’s local and creative you can’t go wrong.

Catering is often provided for working crew, whereas food court offerings are something you likely have to pay extra for, so why make the splurge?

Catering is hit or miss, you never know what you’re gonna get. So talk with your fellow staffers and on the day that doesn’t sound appetizing - make your move to the food court!

Do you have an all-time festival favorite food offering?

I recently had a Chipotle Ghost Pepper Sausage Dog with a Sweet ColeSlaw in Kansas City that was outstanding. So many memorable dishes though.

Any recommendations for staffers looking to progress in the event food consumption world?

Be observant of your surroundings. Food is all around us at these festivals so keep an open eye cause your next dream meal may just be a few steps from your belly.

TACOTLAN

Quesabirria Tacos w/ consomme!!!

These tacos were outstanding, and festival goers showed it by walking around with consomme juice on the side of their mouths and marking on their shirts. They had plenty of meat on the inside of this 3-Pack of wrapped goodness. The warm corn tortillas were crispy on the edges and soft towards the center, but still pliable enough so they didn’t bust open. The cheese was SO flavorful and melted perfectly to keep both sides of the tortilla pasted together. Topped with cilantro and fresh chopped onions. These tacos were authentic, and you would have never known that you were 2,200 miles away from Jalisco, MX

Festival Favorites: A Checklist of Essential Items to Bring to Lollapalooza

Embark on your next festival adventure with confidence, equipped with our top 10 must-have products for festival workers. From the obvious essentials to the unexpected must-haves, this guide is packed with everything you need for a successful festival experience. Read on for our expert-recommended list of 10 essential items for festival workers, ready to take on the journey ahead.

Whether you're new to festivals or a seasoned pro, here are some tips to help you make the most of your work experience!

COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR

Closed toe shoes are a safety requirement for festival staff and volunteers. Any standard sneaker will do. We like the HOKA ONE ONE. It's not only highly cushioned but also lightweight and breathable, making it a comfortable option for long days on your feet.

BARNSTORM FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS BAG

FESTIVAL APPROVED BAG

While staff and volunteers are given the flexibility to bring in items required to perform their job, festival security retains the final say on what is permitted. It is advisable to only bring what you can carry on your person and to abide by the Festival's list of allowed and prohibited items for fans, including the Lollapalooza Festival Bag Policy.

SUN PROTECTION

Ensure you stay safe in the sun by applying sunscreen before arriving on-site. You can also find sunscreen available at Guest Services. Sunglasses or a hat are a must-have during the day.

BARNSTORM FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS YETI WATER BOTTLE

STAY HYDRATED

Sustainability is integrated into every aspect of Festival production and planning, and staying hydrated is a fundamental aspect of a safe and enjoyable work experience. The festival provides free water refill stations from Event Water Solutions throughout the park. Let's work together to help make the festival a more environmentally-friendly event. Help us go green and #BYOBottle!

STAY CHARGED

Whether you are accessing online or in-app resources such as maps and schedules, or staying in touch with management, your phone can be a useful tool while on the job. However, your battery may not last through an entire double shift! To be prepared, bring your own backup power or take advantage of the festival's on-site locker and mobile charging service provided by Entertainment Lockers (while supplies last). To reserve in advance of the event or learn more to better direct guests to this valuable resource, click here.

KEEPING TRACK

The festival has a comprehensive loss prevention program for guests that includes a virtual Lost and Found powered by the Liff App. You can proactively prevent loss by registering your phone in advance of the event here or by adding a tracking device, such as an AirTag, to valuable items like keys.

FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS HIGH VIS VEST

HIGH VISIBILITY WEAR

If you are visiting the festival site during load-in or load-out (for example, for a venue tour or training), you will be entering an active construction site. High-visibility (Hi-Vis) wear is mandatory during these times. To ensure your safety, consider investing in your own Hi-Vis shirt or vest. Guest Services will have a limited supply of Hi-Vis wear available to lend to department personnel on a first-come, first-served basis.

PRACTICAL STYLE

As a festival representative, you will be provided with a uniform shirt to help with identification. Please also prepare for the weather. Shorts are suitable for hot weather, while a warm and/or wind/waterproof layer can be useful for cooler nights or inclement weather. Clear disposable ponchos are available at Guest Services for staff and volunteers in case of rain. Please dress professionally and present yourself in a positive manner.

PREPARE FOR THE UNEXPECTED

The festival has got your back with first aid stations located all over the site, but you can be one step ahead by taking preventative measures. Who knows, you might be dancing your heart out for hours on end after your shift or there could be a sudden downpour, but fear not because having an extra pair of socks will save the day!

CHECK OUT THE MERCH

Don't miss the chance to browse the festival's unique selection of merchandise at the on-site store. Items tend to sell out quickly, so it's best to stop by early. Additionally, festival-goers have the opportunity to earn a prize by submitting a bag of cans to the Rock & Recycle Center, operated by Guest Services.
